The NFL season is officially firing on all cylinders and it's been a great season! You can find us on the couch on Sundays munching away on the best snacks and treats while watching the games.
If you're looking for a Filipino style game day treat? We. Got. You! You can make these super simple sisig nachos in no time using the Omsom Sisig Starter Kit and a bag of Jack 'n Jill Chippy Chilli & Cheese Corn Chips.
Ingredients
-
1lb Ground Pork
-
1 Packet Omsom Sisig Starter
-
Alternatively to Omsom Sisig Packet, you can use 2 tbsp of Kusi Sisig Seasoning
-
2tbsp Olive Oil
-
1tsp Black Pepper
-
1tsp Salt
-
1 Egg + 1 Teaspoon Olive Oil to Fry the Egg
-
1/4 Cup Green Onion Chopped
-
2tbsp Chopped Pickled Onion (See Recipe Notes)
-
1/4 Cup Mayonnaise
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 350 and place an 8 inch skillet in the oven. Leave there until needed.
In a large pan heat up the olive oil at high heat until it shimmers. Add in the ground pork. Cook until it’s brown and crispy. About 10 minutes.
Turn down the heat to low and add in the Omsom Sisig Starter or alternatively, sprinkle a heaping spoon of Kusi Sisig Seasoning.
Cook until the the sauce has cooked down. Season with salt and pepper. Turn off the heat.
Turn off the oven and carefully take the hot skillet out of the oven and empty the bag of Jack 'n Jill Chili & Cheese Corn Chips on the skillet. Top with the cooked ground pork sisig.
Put the skillet back in the oven with the heat off.
Using the same pan you cooked the sisig in, add the remaining teaspoon of oil at high heat. Crack the egg in the pan and cook just until the whites are set, but the yolk is still runny. About 1-2 minutes. Turn off the heat.
Take the skillet out of the oven again and place the fried egg in the middle.
Drizzle the Mayonnaise all over and garnish with the chopped green and pickled onion.
Serve Right Away
Recipe Note
- Notice we did not use any cheese. It will over power the sisig, so we leave it up to you if you wanted to add some melted Cheez Whiz. Or you can always serve it on the side for those that need the cheese.
- To make the pickled onions, simply slice the onion into rings and put in a clean jar. Top with white vinegar and a teaspoon of salt. Leave to sit for an hour at room temperature. Put in the fridge to use indefinitely.
